Hatin’ on Obama?

From Jonah Goldberg at NRO:

What drives Barack Obama’s “doubters and haters”?

So asks Obama biographer David Maraniss in a recent op-ed article for the Washington Post. By doubters and haters he means the people who think Obama wasn’t born in the U.S., that he’s a secret Muslim, or that he’s a closet socialist.

Let’s unpack this one item at a time.

First, while Barry Oh! and his surrogates have been less than forthcoming with the Obama document release (that is, they won’t release his scores, papers, transcripts, college applications, etc.), to my knowledge there is no credible evidence (Obama’s self-penned literary biography excluded) he was born outside the United States.

Second, and similarly, there is no evidence Obama is a Muslim; he just attended a Muslim public school. On the other hand, you could argue there’s even less evidence Obama is a Christian given his theological mentoring, Biblical ignorance, and Scriptural cherry-picking.

socialistsFinally, Obama is clearly not a closet socialist. Rather, he’s an openly practicing socialist. The evidence is legion and actions speak louder than words.

Is being a socialist a good reason to hate the President? No, but it’s a fine opportunity to examine his failed policies: Obamanomics; imperial overreach as far as the eye can see; the unpayable national debt and matter-of-time broken government promises; poverty now above “war on poverty” point; record unemployment rates; the choking Federal Leviathan regulatory state; etc..

And the iron-logic wrap? Socialism is a failure and Barry is a socialist, ergo, Barry is a failure.

There’s plenty of reasons to hate Obama’s policy and governance “sins” and almost four years worth of evidence that these sins have worsened the American condition, but I don’t think we need to hate the sinner. Mock and ridicule, yes. Vote out, yes. Hate, no.

About Professor Mockumental

I enjoy almost all forms of parody, buffoonery, and general high-jinks. Satire has shown itself to be an essential societal need; I therefore humbly offer my services in such a manner. I enjoy mocking the usual suspects at the New York Times (Charles Blows, Moron Dowd, and the earth is flat guy) and Washington Post (Dana Milkbag, E.D. Dijon, and David Ignoramus). There are many others as well, but sadly, there are always too many targets and too little time.
