The Bee Gees and Manti Te’o

The Bee Gees had a song that’s reminiscent of the whole Manti Te’o fake girlfriend thing.

Here’s some reasonable speculation on the Te’o story: he was in on the joke but it spun away from him. Like Bill Clinton’s under-oath lies back in the day, Te’o didn’t know how to back out of the situation without causing exceptionally grave damage to his own personal brand.

If there was an easy or well-understood explanation, don’t you think we’d have heard it from Te’o or his agent by now?

BTW, salute to the sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson (but still, where’s Kiss?!?). And here’s the song that comes to mind regarding the Te’o story:

I didn’t see that the joke was on me…

About Professor Mockumental

I enjoy almost all forms of parody, buffoonery, and general high-jinks. Satire has shown itself to be an essential societal need; I therefore humbly offer my services in such a manner. I enjoy mocking the usual suspects at the New York Times (Charles Blows, Moron Dowd, and the earth is flat guy) and Washington Post (Dana Milkbag, E.D. Dijon, and David Ignoramus). There are many others as well, but sadly, there are always too many targets and too little time.
