Keep your government hands off my car’s tailpipe!

Two sad and pathetic bits of news as reported by The Truth About Cars.

First, Barry Oh!’s crack bureaucrats have released the finalized CAFE regulations for the year 2025. They clock in at 1994 pages in length.

Yes, that’s right, 1994 pages. Your results will not vary. (Remember: lift with your knees and not your back.)

Second, there’s this:

On July 1, all 37 million car owners in France were required to spend 2 Euros for a disposable breathalyzer to be kept in their vehicles at all times. Failure to do so will result in a fine of 11 Euros. Lest you think this is a weak attempt at a parody of the French and their love of wine, go here.

Cars mean freedom and freedom must be regulated (it’s for your own good—and the children).

And what about the standards for the government approved Chevy Volt, replete with its $7500 per vehicle taxpayer subsidy? It has had a waiver.

Obama: an epic failure who is still competitive for re-election

What is it that keeps Barry Oh!’s head above the water line in the national polls? It sure isn’t his record with regard to gas prices, market interference, unemployment, entitlement reform, the deficit, an imperial presidency, social engineering, or anything else.

So even if Obama is headed for a Carter-like November failure, what explains the fact he’s still competitive—at this point—for re-election? The possible explanations are legion, but consider two broad items, his base and the traditional media.

First, with a built-in base, a huge number of people are going to favor Obama no matter how bad the results of his economic, trade, energy, health care, etc., and national security policies.

Second, there’s the fact the overwhelming majority of the traditional media is in the tank for Obama and outside the tank for Mitt Romney.

However, Obama’s base, along with the traditional media, seem certain to become discouraged, just as they were when John Kerry was their nominee (or conversely, for Republicans, when John McCain was theirs). While Obama isn’t nearly the stiff that either Kerry or McCain are, he 1) now has a record and 2) must face the fact history is for the history books: America elected its first-ever bi-racial president in 2008.

This means many voters, unable to bring themselves to vote for Romney (calling Dr. Freud, calling Dr. Freud…) will none-the-less be unwilling to re-elect Barry Oh!, a man whose demonstrated intellect, temperament, judgment, and policies are clearly ill-suited to the role of president.

What would seal the deal? An October surprise from a Deep Throat-type insider to leak Obama’s SATs, ACTs, LSATs, transcripts, papers, and college applications.

You know you’re out there, insider. While envy and personal power may have motivated the Deep Throat of a couple of generations ago, for this election cycle, please consider the future of the nation. And thanks for revealing the Obama truth. Remember, information wants to be free.

Until then, expect the Obama Administration to run away from its own failed record, his base to become more and more de-energized, and the traditional media and Obama super-PACs to become increasingly shrill.
